The role of a Close Protection Operative is as varied one and can be challenging at times. As a Close Protection Operative, you could find yourself protecting celebrities, politicians and diplomats, visiting dignitaries, sports stars and occasionally assisting with royalty protection!
Both hostile and executive SIA Close Protection Operatives are often required to deal with high pressure and sometimes-dangerous situations, this will require in-depth knowledge and training which you will gain through our specialist training. The demands of the job dictate that our Close Protection training course goes above and beyond the required standard outlined by the SIA so will better prepare you for your new and exciting new role. Our training covers an extremely broad range of skills which requires both vigorous practical and theory training. This is confirmed throughout the duration of the course by written, verbal and practical assessments.
UK Regulations set out in the Security Industry Authority (SIA) Act 2001 states that; All individuals wishing to work in the private security industry are to hold a SIA Close Protection Licence. To obtain this licence all potential Close Protection Operatives must attend and pass an accredited Close Protection course as well as pass a criminal background check. They must hold a recognised valid First Aid at Work Certificate (UK only). Although if you are wishing to gain employment in the hostile security sector, such as Afghanistan, Iraq or Africa then most hiring companies will require their CPO`s to hold one of the following as a minimum, First Person on Scene (FPOS) or First Response Emergency Care (FREC) course) (dependant on company requirement).
At PSS Ltd our accredited BTEC Level 3 Close Protection course is designed to go above and beyond SIA requirements to equip learners with the knowledge and skills for those who wish to pursue a career as a Close Protection Operative within the prestigious executive or hostile close protection industry.
Our Lead Close Protection Instructor (former Royal Military Police, Close Protection Unit Instructor) and founder of PSS Ltd, teaches both in the UK as well as abroad for both hostile and executive protection teams. We use recognised experts in their fields of the Close Protection Industry (CP) to teach other modules within our course, because we know you cannot be an expert on all subjects, so we bring several instructors who are also proven specialists in their subject.
Although we as a company cannot guarantee employment after completion of the course, we can guarantee that we will offer PSS students continued support in finding work and offering advice. Where possible and dependant on the current Covid 19 guidance we will endeavour to arrange meetings/interviews on the last day of the course with potential employers and security company Directors.
